Tips For Generating Much-Needed Curb Appeal

Thinking about downsizing by putting your home on the market and perhaps buying one of the condos for sale in CT or somewhere else? One of the most important factors to consider is curb appeal as that’s the first thing potential buyers will see – if they don’t like it, they’ll quickly drive away and never find out what’s on the inside. An attractive exterior can make all the difference in whether or not you sell your home quickly, and at or above the asking price.

Walk Around Your Home as if You’re the Buyer

When you’ve lived in a home, it can be easy to overlook minor problems, but those issues can stand out to buyers. Think like a buyer, walking around the exterior taking notes about what needs cleaning, replacing or repairing.

Beautify Your Yard

An enticing yard goes a long way in alluring home buyers in. Unless it’s the dead of winter, you can almost always find an annual plant that’s in bloom. Colorful flowers are an easy way to give your yard a makeover. Statista.com notes that one survey found nearly half of respondents believe the most important update that can be made to the front yard is beds or borders. Never make the mistake of planting artificial flowers, an instant turnoff to most buyers. Keeping a well-maintained lawn that’s free of debris is an obvious must.

Create a More Attractive Front Entry

Your front porch or entry area is the focal point of your home’s curb appeal. Make sure it’s clean, wiping up any dirty areas and polishing fixtures – if they’re old, consider replacing them. Installing a custom wood door, adding door or even a dash of color with paint can all make it more welcoming. Paint is fairly cheap and painting the front door and trim really helps polish up the look for your home. Make sure that your house numbers are easy to see as well – those can be easily and inexpensively replaced so you may want to get some new ones that are in line with the style of your house.

Open Up the Curtains and Raise the Blinds

Not only is it important to keep curtains opens and blinds up to let natural light in, it will make your home look prettier on the outside too.

Get a New Curbside Mailbox or Dress Up the One You Have

If you have a curbside mailbox, it’s an easy way to add curb appeal. Get a new one that matches the trimmings of your home and paint the post to match its exterior. You might also surround it with a small flowering garden.

Love this! Couldn’t be more spot on. Buyers fall in love with your home before they ever walk in. Only one chance for a first impression 🙂
